Shailene Woodley gets ready to toss a softball out to her younger co-star while shooting new scenes for Big Little Lies earlier this week in Monterey, Calif.
The 24-year-old actress played a bit of catch with her on-screen son for the upcoming HBO series, about three moms whose lives unravel to the point of murder.

Shailene Woodley isn’t known for being particularly tech-savvy — she once told Access Hollywood that she only had a cell phone because her bosses at Lionsgate needed to reach her to film the Divergent series. But the beautiful world of filtered FOMO was apparently beckoning to Shai, because the actress has finally rejoined Instagram.
Woodley made an account a few years back, but finally started posting on Tuesday, much to the delight of her 1 million followers. Her debut pic? A brown paper bag with a handwritten note that reads, “Instagram… what’s good?!” She captioned it, “and here begins my Instagram journey. i’m going to need help. there are so many buttons and settings and options. HAVE THE BEST DAY EVER!!!!” The 24-year-old followed up with a post that seems to encapsulate what her recent social media comeback is all about: voicing her support for Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders. Along with a political cartoon of the Vermont senator, she wrote a short essay about how the media needs to educate people more than it brainwashes them.
She’s used to dressing in futuristic outfits worthy of a dystopian post-apocalyptic Chicago.
But Shailene Woodley was working a distinctly more down to earth look on Wednesday as she arrived on the set of her new show Big Little Lies.
Make-up free, with her raven hair scooped up into a messy bun, the 24-year-old actress kept it very casual in skinny black jeans and open necked black shirt. Accessorised with a chunky leather cord pendant and navy Converse lace-ups, the actress had found time to grab some take-away breakfast to eat on set.A faded woven straw bag slung over her shoulder, loose ripped denim jacket and black painted nails completed her care-free look.
The new comedy is based on the best selling novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty, telling the story of three mothers who strike up a friendship after their children begin school.

It’s been one of the most-talked-about films of the year, and now “Snowden” has an incredible new preview trailer for all to behold.
Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans, Nicolas Cage and Timothy Olyphant, the Oliver Stone project will hit theaters on September 16th.
Per the synopsis, “The pulse-pounding thriller reveals the incredible untold personal story of Edward Snowden, the polarizing figure who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world. He is considered a hero by some, and a traitor by others. No matter which you believe, the epic story of why he did it, who he left behind, and how he pulled it off makes for one of the most compelling films of the year.”
Actress Shailene Woodley encouraged a crowd of about 150 students to vote and volunteer in support of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders’, D-VT, presidential campaign in a talk hosted by Brown University Students for Bernie Saturday night. Addressing the crowd, Woodley said “Our country is not thriving. This is about a movement towards reestablishing democracy in America.”
The event, which was advertised exclusively on Facebook beginning Thursday night, was held as a precursor to the Rhode Island primary Tuesday.
“It was last-minute,” said Aidan Calvelli ’19, a member of the Brown University Students for Bernie leadership team. “We got a call from the campaign on Thursday night, and we had to make a quick-go-or-no-go decision about whether to do it.”
At the event, students picked up posters and pins supporting Sanders as they filed into List 120. The event featured a quick introduction by Calvelli followed by a 20-minute speech by Woodley and a meet-and-greet among the attendees. Students were encouraged to volunteer in the coming days prior to the Rhode Island primary, and clipboards for canvassing were passed around.
Woodley spoke to the audience about her reasons for supporting Sanders and her personal experience volunteering for the campaign. She told personal stories and referenced issues such as climate change and the recent New York primary. She encouraged audience members to vote and to actively participate in volunteering for the campaign. “We have to bring and demand justice back in our country,” Woodley told the audience, adding that this is a “true political revolution that is bigger than us in this room, bigger than Bernie.”
Shailene Woodley campaigned for Bernie Sanders on Saturday, joining the “March For Bernie” in New York City. Wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with a cartoon Sanders riding a unicorn with the saying “Bernie Sanders Is Magical,” Woodley joined hundreds of other supporters in New York City’s Foley Square. At one point, the actress took the stage to address the large crowd. Mainly, though, she mingled with strangers, bonding over their mutual love of Sanders and their hope that he becomes president.
Throughout the event, Woodley used Twitter to encourage her own followers to join her, and shared photos and videos showcasing the rally, which stretched to Union Square. In one clip, the Divergent star filmed herself and other marchers chanting, “The people united, we’ll never be defeated.” In another, participants repeated, “Bernie Sanders has our back, we don’t need a SuperPAC.”
I found a few more outtakes from the shoot Shailene did for Los Angeles Times, the March 2016 issue. I don’t see a big difference between those and the Allegiant Press Conference, but sources say they’re different.. Well.. Okay, Check them out via the links below.
They share the same interest in politics after both declaring their support for Bernie Sanders in the contest to become the Democratic presidential candidate.
And with a primary poll coming up tomorrow in Wisconsin, Hollywood actresses Shailene Woodley and Rosario Dawson donned matching jumpers when appearing at a Sanders rally in the city of Madison last night.
Both have declared their support for Sanders in the past, with Dawson even launching a scathing attack on his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton last week. And the pair appeared together on stage at a Sanders rally last night, where they spoke of their support for the candidate before introducing Palestinian-American civil rights activist Linda Sarsour, who also addressed the crowd.
After they also posed for selfies with members of the audience before joining Sanders on stage for the finale of his rally, where he along with members of the bands Best Coast and Space Craft sang ‘This Land Is Your Land.’
